Matija Čekanović

Matija joined Nikčević & Kapor in September 2024.

He holds an LL.B. from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Law (2024) and is currently pursuing an LL.M. in International Business Law at the same institution.

During his studies, Matija was a member of the Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot team, contributing to the University of Belgrade’s historic success. The team earned two honorable mentions: the Pieter Sanders Award for Best Claimant Memorandum and the Werner Melis Award for Best Respondent Memorandum, marking the first time these accolades were achieved by the University of Belgrade. Additionally, the team secured First Place at the AIACAM Pre-Moot in Milan.

Matija specializes in international and domestic commercial arbitration, investment arbitration, as well as construction law.

He is fluent in English and possesses an advanced proficiency in Russian.
