Reflecting on the Nikčević & Kapor Pre-Moot Weekend – April, 2025, Belgrade

April 10, 2025

We are proud to share highlights from the Nikčević & Kapor Pre-Moot Weekend, held in Belgrade on April 5–6, 2025, as part of this year’s Belgrade Arbitration Conference and Belgrade Open Pre-Moot. The weekend was marked by engaging discussions, practical insights, and meaningful connections within the international arbitration community.

Key moments from the weekend included:

  • Panel Moderation at the XV Belgrade Arbitration Conference
Our Managing Partner, Jovan Nikčević, moderated the opening panel, “Blueprints for Resolution: Navigating FIDIC Contracts and Construction Arbitration.” The discussion focused on Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Boards (DAABs), time bars, claim procedures, and other pressing issues in construction arbitration.
We thank Christopher Seppälä, Milan Dakić, Sally Kotb, and Filip Šušulić for their thoughtful contributions as panelists.
  • Under 40 Arbitration Conference
Our Associate, Matija Savović, also serving as Co-Chair of the Under 40 Arbitration Association, helped organize the conference held at the historic Balkan cinema. The panel, “Now Playing: Arbitration in a Changing World – Key Industries & Skills that Matter,” explored how arbitration is evolving across sectors and what skills will shape its future.
  • Participation as Arbitrators
Several members of our team—Jovan Nikčević, Filip Živanović, as well as former moot participants Tanja Šumar, Matija Savović, and Matija Čekanović—contributed as arbitrators during the Pre-Moot rounds, offering guidance and feedback to the next generation of arbitration professionals.
  • Welcoming Teams at Our Offices
We were also pleased to host international teams at our Belgrade offices for pleading sessions—an excellent opportunity to connect with future leaders in arbitration and support the growth of advocacy skills in a practical setting.

The Pre-Moot Weekend reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the arbitration community and fostering the development of young practitioners. We extend our thanks to all participants, organizers, and colleagues who made the event a success.
